Giving Back
Sol Fitness Adventures believes that giving back to local communities is important to encourage a healthy lifestyle, maintain precious wilderness areas, and sustain a future where we can continue to enjoy and explore the great outdoors.
Our initiatives include:
We are a sponsor of the Helen Hayes Awards in Washington, D.C., taking professional theater to inner city schools. Why theater? Without access to wilderness, urban kids are starved for a creative outlet that challenges and uplifts their spirits. Exposure to the arts gives kids the escape they need and the license to dream.
We officially sponsor the Ojai Montessori School of California through auction donations and volunteered time. Our efforts helped raised money for an outdoor climbing wall and a children’s climbing day with pro climber Lynn Hill.
Additional initiatives include:
Sol is a partner in Leave No Trace. Not only do our trips adhere to their conservation measures, but travelers leave our trips with a working knowledge of the simple steps they can take to preserve the pristine condition of wilderness.
Our partnership with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management lets us be the eyes and ears for the people who manage the Parunuweap Wilderness Study Area. We work with federal biologists and archaeologists to update databases of sensitive wildlife species sightings and archaeological findings. Five percent of our Redrock Backpacker revenues go toward maintaining the canyon as a pristine Wilderness Study Area.
Sol is a member of the Adventure Travel Trade Association, a highly renowned global adventure travel network organization. Our fitness expertise positions us to work closely with top tour operators around the globe to assist their customers in reaching their destination in good shape. Membership gives us access to the industry’s best leaders, guides, travel agents, and business practices, contributing to the overall sustainability of the adventure travel industry.
