Melanie’s Background

Melanie Webb of Sol Fitness Adventures

My passion – and you might say my gift – is teaching others to connect, to their body and to Mother Nature.  My years in high-end establishments as a personal fitness trainer, outdoor adventure guide, and former wildlife biologist combine to deliver unparalleled service to guests seeking to make healthy lifestyle changes. I’d like to share with you in my own words highlights of my multi-faceted career:

Fitness Expert

In 2012 I was honored to be named an ATHLETA 2012 Featured Athlete and become Assistant Editor of Exercise & Fitness at AllThingsHealing.com. My fitness insight has been featured in a number of media outlets, including Good Morning America and FOX Local News in Washington, D.C., and in Outside Magazine, Appalachian Mountain Club, Cosmo Girl, Real Simple, Weight Watchers, and DC Style magazines.

My guests reach their fitness goals through a combination of the very best indoor core and functional training, goal setting and behavior changes, meditation and guided visualization, and the natural challenges of Mother Nature’s gym. My career as a Personal Trainer began in 2000 with a certification from the American Council on Exercise (ACE). I built an impressive resume and client roster during 6 years at The Sports Club/LA and Sterling in Washington, D.C. before seeking new experiences and mentors in California. Now back in my home state of Utah, I work as a consultant, traveling to meet clients around the country, guests coming to Utah to work with me.

While it was through practical experience that my ability to tune-in to bodies was developed, I credit my academic roots to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where I studied Athletic Training and graduated with a B.S. in Zoology, Physiology and Human Developmental Biology.

Outdoor Adventure Guide

“Who needs wilderness? Civilization needs wilderness!” One of my favorite lines, Edward Abbey captures my feelings perfectly. I’ve had the thrill of watching guests reach their goals and overcome challenges while guiding multi-day adventures throughout the state of Utah, in the Eastern Sierra Mountains of California, and Machu Picchu, Peru. With my help, clients have overcome fears of heights, found peace and quiet in the solitude of the outdoors, and experienced the life-transforming gifts of Mother Nature.

Exploring the world is my favorite pastime. A few of my favorite trips include stand up paddling in Bali, Indonesia; snowboarding the Andes Mountains of Chile; hiking the Atlas Mountains and listening to the call to prayer in Fez, Morocco; riding a battery-powered bicycle through Switzerland’s Ementaler Valley; and watching the Baja 250 off road race in San Felipe, Baja, Mexico between bowls of ceviche. Part of the elite team of Gray & Co guides, I’ve co-led bespoke cycling tours in West Texas, California wine country, and Whistler, Canada.

Wildlife Biologist

My father is a renowned birdwatcher and biologist, so it was only natural that I would follow in his footsteps until I discovered my own path. During my 3 years with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources I organized and led biologist crews on over 20 multi-day research expeditions into wilderness areas throughout Utah, including the redrock canyons of Zion National Park. I went on to work as an environmental consultant in the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. Once I’d made sure the government life wasn’t for me, I dove into my true love of fitness and turned my attention to sharing the outdoors with adventure travelers through Sol Fitness Adventures.

Guest Profiles

Sol Fitness Adventures services are for discriminating travelers who seek to transform their health and wellness in unique destinations that promise an exceptional, authentic experience and cultural immersion. My clients have included unique figures – CEO’s and corporate employees; a dancer from Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet and a German soccer player; an injured motocross star and a squash national champion; socialite mom’s and a former U.S. Secretary of Defense.

When you are ready for an experience that will improve your health and alter your approach to fitness for the rest of your life I invite you to call me. Together we will accomplish your fitness goals.
